iOS 18 is Apple’s biggest update for the iPhone for many reasons, and it has been speculated that the update will change the way we use our devices. At the WWDC event, Apple announced iOS 18 with Apple Intelligence, which will change the way we use iPhones and iPads. With the company’s iPhone 16 lineup expected to be announced next week, this leaves us wondering when Apple will release the iOS 18 release candidate for compatible devices.
Apple could release the iOS 18 release candidates and other updates on September 9, shortly after the iPhone 16 announcement.
Well, we now have a pretty good idea of when Apple will make the iOS 18 update candidate available to developers and public beta testers. Developers have been testing the latest version ever since the company released the first beta of iOS 18 and so far, the update has been largely stable, as far as one of the latest betas goes. This means that developers and Apple have done a pretty good job of ironing out all the bugs and issues for a stable release.
Apple’s update candidate refers to the latest update of a particular version of iOS, iOS 18 in this case, and is usually the final version before the company releases the stable version to the general public. Last year, Apple announced the iPhone 15 lineup on September 12 and shortly after the event, the company introduced the iOS 17 release candidate to developers for final testing. This year, the company is expected to announce the iPhone 16 lineup on September 9, and if the company continues to follow its previous trends, we could see the arrival of the iOS 18 update candidate for a release on the same day.
It is highly likely that the company will release the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 release candidates on September 9, shortly after announcing the two iPhone 16 models. Apart from iOS 18, Apple will also release the macOS 15 release candidates, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, visionOS 2, and a few other updates in the same Today for all compatible devices. If you were eagerly waiting for the final release candidate, stay tuned as we will be covering the updates in detail.
Once the release candidate updates are available next week, we will see the final version reach the public a week later. However, the company might find it appropriate to release the final versions later as Apple sometimes releases a second version of the release candidates. We will be covering the event in detail, so stay tuned for more details.
